I have recently decided to open my own personal training studio in Loughton. After being a mobile personal trainer for 11 years I made the decision to have my own studio.
Being a mobile personal trainer can at times be draining. You might have a session booked at 6 AM and even if it’s local to Loughton there is lots of preparation before the session. You have to pack your car with the right equipment and give yourself enough time to arrive at least 5 minutes before the session begins. Then if you have a session straight after that you have to make sure that you have enough time to get there as well.
If that is not the case then you drive home and it might be that your next session is at 9 so you have 2 hours that you are basically tied up.
I have even had clients further afield than Loughton. I used to have this client in Wanstead who had a session booked 7 AM twice a week. So I used to have to leave my house at 6.30 the latest then after the session I would drive back to Loughton in rush hour traffic and that would take me almost an hour. So working and getting paid for 1 hour would take almost 3 hours of my day.
So what made me decide to open my studio?
I have been renting a lock-up garage close to my house for many years and I have trained a few clients in there over the years. Mainly clients who haven’t got space in their own houses.
This lock up garage was really run down to say the least and it was really hard to keep clean as well as there was no electric socket for a vacuum cleaner.
The garage did serve it’s purpose however and some clients used to love it in there for some reason. Can you believe that the garage even had an Asbestos roof?
Well in the end of March this year we received an eviction notice to vacate by the end of June. The whole plot had been bought by developers who are now going to demolish the garages and build flats.
So there we go. I now have my own studio and I have recently done a Facebook ad campaign giving away a 5£ trial session.
So i have had a few people come in and they have all loved my new studio.
There is no way that I could have given away such an offer being a mobile trainer. Having to travel to a client’s house and then get paid only a fiver.
So this is the first time I have tried something like this and so far it has been a success. I will now also be able to train more clients as I don’t have to travel as much as I did before.
I am very excited and happy to start this new chapter in my personal trainer career.
