Q: How often do you think I should be active in a week?
A: I believe that older adults need approximately 5 hours of activity in a week. Just over half of that could be doing something that you really enjoy, such as walking, playing golf and Dancing ETC.
A couple of times you do need to get a little bit out of breath from vigorous activity and it’s also important to include some weight bearing exercises to keep our joints and muscles active. |
Q: What are the benefits of training with you?
A: First of all I don’t do generic programmes. I will look into movements that can benefit each individual the most and then design a training programme accordingly.
“Let’s say you want to play Golf. Then I will make sure we work on rotational movements and perhaps work on posture issues to make sure you get that perfect swing.” “Let’s say you want to do gardening, then we will look into movements such as lunging and lifting things off the ground.” Before anything I will look into functions that each individual will need the most. |
Q: How do we stay safe in Covid times?
Well when the first lockdown happened it caught me completely off guard. All of a sudden I wasn’t able to help my clients stay fit and healthy anymore. I very quickly moved all my clients over to Zoom sessions as I wasn’t allowed to see them in person anymore. This was actually a big success for me. Not only did I keep my clients but I also had new clients join me. Some who live too far away to even train with me in person. Even when they eased the restrictions and I was allowed to see my clients the Zoom classes still continued. I believe that it is actually a really good thing that you can get really fit even in your own living room.
At the moment I am allowed to train one household in a public place and that works really well too. It’s actually really important to spend time in the outdoors for our wellbeing and one really important factor in defeating this horrible virus is to be in peak condition. |
Q: How fit do I need to be to train with you?
A: Over the years I have taken on many people who were completely de-conditioned, some who had never done any form of exercise and some who were really intimidated by joining a gym.
So my studio is just an empty room there is nothing intimidating in there. No bulky machines. When you come to see me it is all about helping you get a little bit better. |
Q; What sort of a diet do you recommend for weight loss?
A: First of all what would you like to eat? If I told you what I believe you should eat do you think this is something that you could follow? If you told me what you would like to eat we can look at this together and perhaps come up with a solution. Something that works for you and your lifestyle.
More importantly my nutrition coaching is habit based. This is something which will work for you long term. |
